Roma Oral History Researcher (ref: RoM 41)

The Roma Support Group is pleased to advertise two positions for the Roma Oral History Researchers (each position: 7 hrs per week, 40 weeks per annum over two years).
Researchers will be involved in collecting Roma people’s oral histories and recording their heritage. They will develop skills in cataloguing, conservation and archiving oral histories (training provided by the Oral History Society, London Metropolitan Archives and Redbridge Museum). They will also be engaged in co-organising educational workshops, an exhibition and contribute to creating educational materials based on recorded oral histories.

The ideal candidate will have excellent understanding of Roma Communities, their culture and current situation, fluency in English and Roma language and ability to establish a trust-based relationship with Roma community members.

These posts are funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
