> Training course on Roma Health Awareness, 6th November 2018

We are holding a full day’s training course on Roma Health Awareness on Tuesday 6th November 2018.

Why should you attend?

Due to language barriers, lack of familiarity with UK health systems and cultural attitudes towards health, Roma migrants in the UK face disproportionate barriers to obtaining the health care they need. By building professional awareness of Roma health, we can create a health service that is accessible to all patients, regardless of their background.

What will you gain from the session?

  • An understanding of Roma culture and identity, and how these affect Roma patients’ health-related decisions
  • An understanding of the key barriers Roma patients face in accessing health services
  • Good practice tips for engaging with Roma patients

This is what a previous attendee had to say about the training:

“It was an eye-opener for us to know that there are different sections in the Roma community…They have different dialect as well. We, as health professionals, might be mixed up with it. The training gave a clear idea about the community and how health services around them could support them.

I have more knowledge of their diverse culture and more understanding of where they will be coming from.”
